“Power Ballad” Wins Awards at Film Festivals Worldwide, With Rave Reviews for Both Film and Music

Soon, Thai movie fans will get to see “Power Ballad”, the latest film from John Carney, director of Once, Begin Again and Sing Street, brought to Thailand by Shinesaeng Ad.Venture. The film has now received acclaim from film festivals around the world, earning the Best Feature award from the Annapolis Film Festival 2026 and Boulder International Film Festival 2026 , as well as the Special Jury Prize for Music in Film from the Desertscape International Film Festival 2026, ahead of its Thai theatrical release on 11 June.

In addition, “Power Ballad” has also received strong acclaim abroad, earning an 87% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a Must-See badge from Metacritic — another music film that both audiences and critics worldwide are talking about. It further underscores the film’s charm, which isn’t just about beautiful songs, but also comes with an intensity and emotional impact that make it even more compelling. Because a hit song may not belong to the person everyone assumes; behind fame, success, and a catchy tune, there may sometimes be “someone else” hidden away, gradually revealed through every melody.

And more than 10 years after Sing Street, director John Carney returns to the big screen once again with a music film that explores song, success, and what may have to be sacrificed along the way. At the same time, “Power Ballad” also brings together Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas, two highly skilled actors each with their own distinctive charm, along with Peter McDonald — who trades in his police badge from THE BATMAN to write the screenplay and appear as Sandy, giving fans another role to follow.

As for Paul Rudd, an actor audiences know well from a wide range of iconic works — comedies, dramas, and countless world-famous franchises — including Romeo + Juliet, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and more. Meanwhile, the acting career of Nick Jonas — another artist who has gradually proven himself through a variety of roles over the years — includes Chaos Walking, The Good Half, A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, Midway and more. This collaboration between the two adds even more colour and an intriguing new dimension to the film.

Get ready for a story of songs, relationships, and questions hidden behind success in “Power Ballad”, in cinemas from 11 June. Follow more updates via:
